I read a book called “So Yesterday” by Scott Westerfeld. I would rate it a 3 on a scale of 5 because to me the ending really didn't make any sense but the plotting was good. This book is about a boy, Hunter, 18 and his crush, Jen. Hunter is a “trendsetter” witch means that he goes around taking pictures of things that he thinks is in style, if his boss likes it it's in. Jen is a “Innovater” witch is the opposite of a trendsetter, the first person to wear way-to-baggy pant on purpose. When hunters boss, Mandy, disappears he and Jen find her cell phone in an abandoned building they know that something is up. When they find the phone in the building Jen notices that that particular floor isn't dust like the rest of the other floor, during that time a man chases them, and stalks them with the rest of his gang. Now Hunter and Jen will have to follow a string of clues including a face of a man. Next when they visit one of Hunters friends, Lexa, to clear up the picture of the man on the screen. But Lexa says: “Sometime blurrier is better.” she pulls up a sheet of wax paper. And tadah! You can see the mans face his expression is this: He is in total control. Hunter is sure that this was the man that was chasing them away from the building. Now they have to go to a party that is supposed to help them find Mandy. I like this book because i can really relate to Jen. I have the same personality as her.

The book that I read is called the Bad Beginning, by Lemony Snicket. It is the first book of the Series of Unfortunate Events. The main characters are three siblings, Violet, the oldest, then her younger brother, Klaus, and finally baby sister, Sunny. It is set in back in about the 1930's (though it doesn't really tell you exactly when, or where). The book starts out when the siblings receive terribly tragic news, that their parents have died, but they are left with a fortune of money. They are sent away to live with their distant relative, Count Olaf. Count Olaf is a very sinister character. He has bright, shiny eyes that look as if can see right through them, and he has a unibrow. He lives in a musty, disgusting old shack, and he had a tall, lopsided tower in his back yard. They decide almost instantly that they absolutely do not like him. That, and he has a tattoo of an eye right on his left ankle. When they find out that he just inherited them to steal their money, they do everything they can to escape Count Olaf's clutches. Can they escape before he figures out a plan to take their whole fortune? My favorite part is when Violet uses her inventions for a good plan (I won't reveal what the plan is!).My favorite character is Sunny, because when she talks, she doesn't use words, because she's a baby, and she speaks nonsense. I like that she does this because it annoys Count Olaf, the evil character. I would recommend this book to people who do not like happy ending, do like unfortunate events, and who like a book with a lot of logic in it.

I read the book Twelve by Lauren Myracle. Twelve is about a girl named Winnie and what she goes through throughout summer and her 7th grade year. Winnie's mom keeps telling her that she's becoming a woman, but Winnie just pushes away the thought whenever it comes to mind. Plus, Winnie lost her best friend, Amanda, to a girl that treats Winnie like garbage, Gail. My favorite scene in Twelve is when Winnie, Sandra, her sister and her mom are driving to where Sandra's driving test is going to be held. Winnie is giving her sister driving help on the way there and says, “Don't hit the pedestrian!” Sandra's reply was, “He's five feet away, and on the sidewalk!” I thought that that part was pretty funny. Twelve also includes her problems and solutions with boys, puberty, and ups and downs with friends and old. I would rate this book a four out of five because it was really good, but not quite a perfect book.

Because of Winn Dixie is a cute and an extraordinary read, by Kate DiCamillo. The main characters are Opal and Winn Dixie. This story takes place in a trailer park and a town. Opal is a heartwarming character that finds a shaggy dog in a store. She has many adventures with that dog, including two ‘bald-headed babies’, that aren’t very nice, the mistaking of Winn Dixie for a bear, and a so-called witch who really is nice. But then on a party there was a storm and Winn Dixie runs away. Can Opal find him, or has she lost her friend? I like this book because it’s very adventurous and it could happen. I’d rate it 3 out of 5.

Wouldn’t it be strange if you had an Uncle that you did not know about? A Corner of the Universe. Is about a girl named Hattie Owen who has an Uncle she never knows about who suddenly came back from a special school. Almost everybody in town thinks that Adam, the Uncle, is a freak. One day they go to the carnival Adam wants to go on the Ferris wheel. It gets stock and then he gets mad, and the police have to arrest him. That is one of my favorite books and I would rate this A 5/5.
I strongly encourage you to read The Report Card, a great realistic fiction story by Andrew Clements. The main character is Nora, a super smart girl in fifth who thinks grades are dumb because everyone either thinks they’re in the smart group or the plain old stupid group. So she teams with her friend Stephen to try to prove that kids are not stupid just because their parents or tests say they are! This is a great book for people who like realistic fiction and really brave kids! I would rate this book a 5 out of 5.

"Because of Anya", by Margaret Peterson Haddix, is about a young girl who suffers from “alopecia aerata.” This is a illness where you lose hair. The main characters are, Anya and Keely. Anya, is a shy, and quite fourth-grade girl. She has alopecia aerata, and loses all her hair on her head. In the book, Anya deals with fitting in, making friends, and growing up. Her hair loss adds more to her problems. In order to fit in Anya wears a wig to school, hoping that no one will find out. Throughout the school day she worries someone will notice her synthetic hair. As Anya deals with fitting in, Keely Michaels deals with staying in. Keely is very similar to Anya. Shy and quiet, but Keely is considered “popular.” Once Keely and her “clique” discover Anya wears a wig, they jump to the conclusion that Anya has cancer. Although, Stef suggests the group to be nice to Anya (since they believe she is dying), she needs to know if it really is a wig. But Stef doesn’t just ask Anya. Instead she suggest they pull her hair to see if her wig moves. Keely refuses Stef for the first time in her life. A few days later, Anya’s secret is exposed to her whole class. "Because of Anya", is a sad and inspiring story about a young girl trying to fit in. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate this book a 5. I am hoping to read more realistic fiction books by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

The main characters are Verna (the mom), Angel (the 12 year old daughter), Wayne Morgan (the dad) and berney (the 7 year old) who always whines and watches tv too much. My favorite part is when angel sees the star man for the first time. everyone else seemed to like it too. on a scale of 1 to 5 i give it a 5 it was a really good book.

I read the book called Heartbeat. Heartbeat is about a girl named Annie. Annie loves to run, everyday she runs with her friend named Max. Annie's mother is pregnant and at the end of the story you will find out if she has a little brother or a little sister. Annie loves to feel the baby's heartbeat, when they go into the place where Annie's will have her baby Annie gets scared and does not know what to do when they have the baby. Annie likes to run with her shoes off and the only person she will run with is Max. The girl's track team coach sometimes watches Annie run and she really wants her on there team. Annie try's to be as nice as possible to the coach but the coach is always asking her. Max is on the boy's track team and when they have a track meet he does not have the kind of shoes that he needs but he try's to raise enough money to get them. In the middle of the story Max asked Annie if she wanted to be on the girls track team and Annie punches Max. Annie feels really bad about what she did and she really regrets doing it. Since Annie feels so bad she gives up all of her chore money to Max. Annie loves to do art and she gets assigned one apple and she has to draw the apple one hundred times. Annie wanted to buy herself some new colored pencils with her chore money but because she had to give it to Max she cannot. On a scale 1-10 I would rate this book a 10! I have read this book about four times and I have never gotten tired of it. I hope you enjoy this book. My name is Ashleigh in room 24 and this book is amazing.
Title: Don’t Tell Anymore By Mikey Teacher: Mr. Grimm Rm.22
Author: Peg Kehret
The main characters are Megan the girl, a white cat, a black cat and a cat Megan called Momacat. The book takes place by a big patch of grass, a tree and a drainpipe. What happens in the book is Megan is trying to stop the construction company from building apartments were the field is. My favorite scene is when Megan gets there and they cut down the trees by the field and Megan is thinking how to stop them. Also my favorite character is Momacat because when the other cat’s left the pie plate with no more food Momacat stayed to lick the bottom of the pie plate. Also I would recommend this book to kids that like cats.
The Boy who Owned the School, by Gary Paulsen is one of my favorite realistic fiction novels. This book is about a boy named Jacob Freinsten. His daily life consists of obstacles as he tries to not be seen by his peers in school. One day an English teacher decides a different type of punishment for Jacob; he has to be part of the school play. As Jacob is a stagehand he discovers his true love, Maria. This book has some really funny scenes. My favorite is when the third graders of the school freak out and run and yell, “Fire” as the fog machine is used for the first time. My favorite character is actually the gym coach because he reminds me of my fifth grade teacher. He is funny, strict, and has a great way with discipline in his class. One reason I really enjoyed this book is that I liked how Jacob and Maria became friends even though they were totally different types personalities in the school. I highly recommend this book to people who like funny, romantic, and sad realistic fiction. I would give this book a 4 out of 5 for its themes and humor. Pick it up at the library and enjoy a good read.
