Summer Reading Programs
Reading during the summer will help you to keep up your reading skills. We want to encourage everyone to read and if possible participate in a summer reading program.Every student in Grades 2-6 has received a "Recommended Readin List" from their teacher. This is specific to their reading level. We encourage you to look at it and guide your child in selecting books for the summer. King County Public Library is sponsoring a summer reading program. Students need to register for the "Be Creative" at the KCLS Web Site or your local King County Library. Lake Forest Park is our school's public library. When you go in to the library please mention that you are from Briarcrest. If students want to continue taking tests on the books they read we recommend that you look at the Book Adventure web site. This is sponsored by Sylvan Learning Centers and has a database of 7,000+ tests. Students register and then they are eligible to take tests on the web site. This information will not be linked to our database, but it is good practice for students.
