BLAST
Mrs. Schaad and Mrs. McDonald
Meet Mrs. Schaad:
Welcome! It is my pleasure to teach your child this year. We make learning fun while building skills and confidence.
I have a Master's Degree in Reading and a Special Education endorsement from the University of Washington. My teaching career began in 1977 teaching 2nd grade in Duvall, Washington. After the birth of my first son in 1985 I left teaching for 9 years to focus on my own 2 boys (now 18 and 21). In 1994 I returned to teaching. My Shoreline career has been working in Special Education. During my free time I solve Sudoku puzzles, gardening, knitting, and summer camping. This is my thirteenth year at Briarcrest. I love teaching at this school.
Meet Mrs. McDonald:
Welcome to BLAST reading! Students work hard in this room to develop their reading skills. We practice decoding words, expand our understanding of vocabulary, and develop our comprehension of the stories and selections we read. I look forward to an exciting year of growth for students in this class.
I have been a teacher for over 25 years. I love teaching at Briarcrest, and I am keenly interested in helping students to develop their academic potential. I have a Master’s Degree in the area of Reading and Language Arts and have taken a variety of courses to hone my skills as a specialist in teaching reading.
I have a husband, two grown children and a miniature dachshund. I love to read, take walks with friends, and entertain in my home.
