Performing Arts at Briarcrest
2008-09
We are continuing a school wide emphasis on “Performing Arts” this year, and have planned many exciting projects. Each grade level will have a chance to be our “featured performers” for one of the three events we are planning. All of the grade levels that are not performing will help us in making these events exceptional by supporting the performers with production projects.
On December 9th at 7PM, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders will be our featured performers in a Latin American Festival, featuring the dance, costumes and crafts of Latin America. Please sign up to help.
On February 13th and 14th we are planning our School Musical, “Aladdin”. We have secured the Shorecrest Stage for this years performance with 5th and 6th graders. Once again Parent Volunteers are very important. Much needs to be done with stage work, costumes, sets, and crews to help set up and take down equipment at Shorecrest.
Our last project will be for the 3rd and 4th grades. This year we will be having a Northwest Native American Potlatch on May 5th. We are planning a picnic on the lawn as well as our featured performances.
Some after school opportunities working on our 5th and 6th grade Musical with Mr. Leslie will be available November through February. This year we are continuing the 4th 5th and 6th grade “Briarcrest Singers” with concerts in Winter and Spring. “Talent Show” will take place in early June. Sign up times for these after-school activities will be posted in the weekly newsletters throughout the year.
