This is my fourteenth year teaching General Music in Shoreline. I’ve taught general music mostly at North City, and Briarcrest. During this time I’ve also taught part-time at Meridian Park, Parkwood and LFP
I received my initial training at the University of Washington earning a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance, a Bachelor of Arts in education and a K-12 Choral endorsement. I earned my Masters degree in Curriculum Development.
As a former student in the Shoreline school district (Kellogg and Shorecrest), I have a special affinity for this area and this district. As an educator I’m proud to say I’ve witnessed our district deal effectively with diversity and new challenges and always come out “on top”.
I believe that it is important for children to succeed in the arts and I look for opportunities to increase their confidence and success in my approach to the arts. I want children to develop self-esteem and self-awareness through their participation in the arts. My hope is that our students will learn to view the arts as a prism through which to view other subject matter and the world.
