Mr. Leslie

This is my Twelfth year teaching General Music in Shoreline. I received my initial training at the University of Washington earning a “Bachelor of Music” in “Vocal Performance” from the “School of Music”, a “Bachelor of Arts” in education from the school of education, a music endorsement (K-12 Choral) through the school of music. I earned my masters degree in “Curriculum Development” from “Antioch University”. I am currently working towards an endorsement in administration through SPU and will be serving as Briarcrest’s administrative intern for this year.

As a former student in the Shoreline School District I have a special affinity for this area and this district. I believe our district has the potential to be number one in music for our state and look forward to working towards that as a goal. As an educator I have had the opportunity to see our district grow and deal effectively with diversity and new challenges. These experiences have given me the confidence to believe in this district as a source of strength for our community.

I believe that it is important for children to succeed in the arts and I look for opportunities to increase their confidence and success in my approach to the arts. I want children to develop self-esteem and self-awareness through their participation in the arts. My hope is that our students will learn to view the arts as a prism through which to view other subject matter and the world.
