The Shoreline Rotary Club donated brand new, beautiful dictionaries that our third graders could bring home and use. The third grade teachers and Mr. Kleyn have been teaching students how to use their dictionaries. Many students wrote thank you letters to the Shoreline Rotary. Thank you Shoreline Rotary! |

On Thursday, October 29th, fifth and sixth grade students from Highland Terrace Elementary School, participated in the "Fun Run" at Meridian Park Elementary. The "Fun Run" is an event where students from elementary schools across the district compete against each other in the 1/2 mile run and one mile run. The members of the Highland Terrace Running Club have been training after school since late September for the event. |

Fifth graders worked together to weed and clean up our garden boxes. Highland Terrace has a tradition of growing plants in garden boxes as a learning activity. |

Highland Terrace students from Mrs. Cameron's fourth grade class and Ms. Chmielniak's Kindergarten class are buddies! All Highland Terrace classrooms participate in a buddy program where older students mentor and play with younger students. It's a wonderful Orca tradition. |

For October's "Embrace Shoreline" event, Highland Terrace parents and students joined Principal Mike VanOrden cleaning up the Urban Forest and removing invasive vegetation. The Urban Forest is district owned piece of land adjacent to our school. Teachers bring students to the forest to learn more about conservation and our native plants and animals. Thank you to all who helped embrace our Urban Forest! |
