Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks

Interesting Facts:

In the 1950s, African Americans were not allowed to board buses by the front door. They had to pay their fare, climb back out of the bus, and use the door at the rear.

During the boycott of the Montgomery bus system, African American students organized carpools so that people who normally took the bus could get to and from work.

The Civil Rights Act, which was passed in 1964, made segregation on buses illegal in the United States.
