Interesting Facts:

Throughout his career, John Ciardi worked hard to inspire more people to gead and appreciate poetry.

In 1961-1962, Ciardi hosted a television series called "Accent." The program included poetry written and recited by children.

Other books for children by John Ciardi included The reason for the Pelican; Scrappy the Pup; I Met a Man; The Man Wo Sang the Sillies: You Read to Me, I;ll reade to You; The Wish Tree; and the Monster Den.

John Ciardi died in 1986
