Novel Study
Assignment Schedule:
- View the first meeting video. (you can see it at the Home Education Exchange)
- Complete all reading and worksheets; discuss with parents complete the pre / post activities in the packet
- Do not read ahead - if you want further enrichment during the novel study, pick another book from the recommended list for reading and reflection
- send 1 e-mail per week in response to that week's assignment
- include an extended response to 1 item from each chapter set
- a chapter set is (1-2) (3-5) etc. as indicated by the packet
- this could be a 2 or more sentence answer to a question provided
- this could be your thinking or research on a idea discussed such as "heirloom" in chap. 1
- make 1 item for display at the Home Education Exchange (this item could come from one of the following, any related extended activities from the worksheet packet, or your own thinking)
- poster (crafts or games of early America e.g..)
- diorama (use a shoe box e.g..)
- book cover (title, drawings, designs, and text e.g..)
- write another chapter (type and layout e.g..)
- - log cabin (popsicle sticks or Lincoln Logs e.g..)
- map (Maine in 1768 e.g..)

- share your display items related to book
- bring your projects to the Exchange for display and posting on the Web site
