On-line Lessons Index

The lessons and activities listed below are offered to members. Some lessons and activities are designed as units. Participants can start any time and continue week after week. Other offerings are one time learning events. The recommended grade level is identified but any student may participate as interest and ability dictate. If you have ideas for lessons and activities, pass your suggestion on to Ron, Trudi. Some activities may require special materials. You may stop by HEE to pick them up, or request us to mail them to you.

In addition, this activity gives students repeated opportunities to develop and to practice oral language and proofreading skills. This will not only improve your child's language skills but will also enhance general cultural literacy. Special Materials: (optional) An appropriate grammar book to help explain the answers would be helpful.

	Reading	Novel Study #1	Grades 6-8	Registration: Yes Special Materials: Book and Activity Packet. Participants will read the book Sign of the Beaver, Treasure Island, The Pushcart War, The Hobbit, The Black Pearl, Lilies of the Field, A Wrinkle in Time, or Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry. respond to questions and complete related assignments at the direction of Mr. Hayes via email. If you need an email account, Mr. Jones will set one up for your.
	Math	Math Critical Thinking and Problem Solving	Grades 4-8	Special Materials: None Participants will discover, through the use of these daily problems, that there is more than one way to approach a problem, and that frequently there is more than one correct answer.
	Science	Science Activities	Grades 3-8	Special Materials: (see each activity) Participants will develop their science literacy through hands-on experiments and activities. These activities are based on the National Science Education Standards.
