Burning a CD

Directions for Checking the Size of your School Folder

 

  1. Highlight your school folder.
  2. Go to File > Get Info or apple i to find out the size of your folder.
  3. If your school folder is less than 700 MB, you will be able to burn it onto one CD.
  4. If your school folder is more than 700 MB, you will need to split it into parts and burn it onto multiple CDs.
  5. You will be given one blank CD in your science class.  Your science teacher will show you how to burn your school folder (less than 700MB) onto this CD.
  6. If you need more CDs because your files are larger than 700MB, blank CDs are available at the school store and the office for you to purchase.
  7. SWAT Team members will be available to help you burn your schoolwork onto CDs at lunch during the week of June 5 - June 9.  They will not be able to help you burn personal files.

 

 

Directions for Burning your School Folder onto your CD

 

  1. Insert the blank CD into the optical drive on your laptop.
  2. A dialog will appear.  Choose the action “Open Finder” from the pop-up menu.  Then click OK.
  3. The Untitled CD will appear in your finder window. (If the finder window does not automatically open, double click your harddrive to open your finder window.)
  4. Click on the Untitled CD icon in the finder window.  An empty window will open.
  5. Drag your school folder into this window.  You will only be able to burn a total of 700MB.
  6. Click the burn icon
  7. A dialog will appear that asks you for a disc name and for the speed at which you want to burn the CD.
  8. Type in a name for your CD.  Choose 4 for the burn speed.
  9. Depending on how big your file is, it may take awhile to burn your CD.  Keep your lid open until the CD is burned.

 

It is your responsibility to make sure your school worked is saved on a CD!!
