Dear Lake Forest Park Parent/Guardian:

Welcome to the 2009 – 2010 school year!  I hope this letter finds you and your student(s) happy, healthy and getting excited for the new school year. The staff is looking forward to working with Lake Forest Park students and families.

Included with this letter, you will find your student’s class assignment for the upcoming school year.  Classroom placement is a complex process where many factors are taken into consideration.  Serving the needs of your student is our number one priority.  Communicating any questions and concerns that you may have to your child’s teacher makes us aware of any factors that may affect your child’s ability to learn in school.  I also want to be sure that you are aware that we will try very hard not to make changes to a student’s schedule once the school year has started.  However, there may be a circumstance that requires us to move students if for some unanticipated reason our numbers change.  This is not something that we will know until all of the students arrive during that first week of school.

We have several new teachers to welcome to LFP and two returning teachers who have changed grade levels.  I’d like to welcome Allen Leslie and Leann Rozema as our new music teachers and Cheryl Zahajko as our new Resource Room teacher.  Kris Reinbold will join Amy Smith as part of our Title teacher team.  Sara Carver will move from 4th grade to half day Kindergarten and Kim Cleary will teach a 4/5 split class. We feel fortunate to have such wonderful new and returning staff members.  As your new principal, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with you and your children.

This summer, our new play field was installed.  During the school year, the field will be closed to allow the grass to grow properly.  We will focus on fun blacktop games for recess play this year.  Our community will have a gorgeous new field to enjoy starting the fall of 2010.
