Book Order Information:

Book order catalogs are a great way for students to get fun and interesting books to read at home and with friends. The prices are affordable and the selection is wonderful. Ordering from these catalogs also helps bulk up our classroom library since the companies give credit for each purchase from our class. I can use this credit to buy books and posters to add to our room.

The Process:

On the first Wednesday of each month, book order catalogs will be sent home inside each student’s Boomerang folder. Peruse the catalogs with your daughter or son. If there are any books or activities you’d like to purchase, fill out the order form on the back of the catalog and send it in to school by the 20^th of the month with a check to cover the cost. I will contact the catalog companies and complete our class order. It will arrive at school before the end of the month and I will distribute the order when it comes.

Birthday Information:

This year Meridian Park is continuing our goal of teaching healthy living through nutrition, fitness, and academics. To help promote this goal I am asking that we celebrate your child’s birthday through literature and healthy food choices, instead of sweets.

When your child’s birthday approaches she/he is invited to bring in a favorite book to donate to the classroom rather than cupcakes or other treats. This special “birthday book” should have the student’s name, picture, and birthday, on the inside of the front cover. After singing to your child, and reading their special “birthday book” to the class, the book will become a permanent reminder of their special day.

Woo Woo:

Each student will have a week to be “Woo Woo” (room 412’s version of star of the week). The schedule is written below and a hard copy was sent home in the second Boomerang of the year.

*On Monday of your child’s Woo Woo week, he/she should bring in 7-10 pictures from home, with captions explaining where and when they were taken. These pictures will accompany the student’s All About Me poster on our Woo Woo wall.

*On Wednesday of your child’s Woo Woo week, she/he should bring in something special from home to share about. Please assist your daughter or son in practicing sharing the item at home before bringing it to school.

*On Friday of your child’s Woo Woo week, I will present her/his Woo Woo bag which contains compliments written by the classmates of room 412. There will also be a surprise for you in the bag, from your child.
