Before 1993 Prior to 1993, Meridian Park was the site of Cordell Hull Junior High School, District Offices, and temporary housing for elementary schools during site remodeling projects. 1993 1994 Meridian Park School opened in fall, 1993. At that time, Meridian Park housed a neighborhood, general education K-6 school, the Highly Capable Student Program for the west side of the district, Room Nine, K-6, the Early Childhood Education program, Head Start, and the district’s Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy (OT/PT) program. 1994 1996 After spending the first year together, Meridian Park’s students, staff, and programs were relocated so that the school-remodeling project could begin. The Early Childhood Education and OT/PT programs spent two years at Aldercrest Annex. The general education, highly capable, and Room Nine programs spent two years at the Cedarbrook Elementary site. 1996 Present All of the programs came back together under the new Meridian Park roof in the fall of 1996. Over time, there have been many changes at Meridian Park. An English Language Learner program was added in 1999. Room Nine students and staff left in 1993 to form their own K-8 Room Nine Community School. In the fall of 2007, they returned to co-locate at Meridian Park. Head Start left for the 2006 2007 school year, but returned in fall 2007. |
