Kindergarten to Grade Six:  A comprehensive kindergarten through grade six program is provided for students who attend Meridian Park Elementary School.

Special Education Programs/ Early Childhood Education:  The Early Childhood program provides an early intervention special education program for three-to-five year olds who have developmental delays.  Children qualify for the program through testing for a delay in one or more of the following areas:  cognitive, communication, gross motor, fine motor or social/emotional.  Heterogeneous class grouping facilitates learning through peer interaction, modeling and cooperative learning.  Parents, teachers and support staff work together to meet the individual needs of each child.  The Early Childhood Program Secretary may be reached at 206-361-4250. 

We also house the district’s Physical and Occupational Therapy Program.  The number is 206-361-4255.

 

Highly Capable:  The Highly Capable program serves children in grades 2 through 6 who have demonstrated high performance capabilities in specific academic fields.  Enrichment activities and accelerated curriculum is provided to meet the needs of these students.  Contact the Highly Capable Office at 368-4771 for information on testing procedures.

English Language Learners: Students learning English as a new language receive services during the school day. The goal of the program is to help students achieve English language literacy. For more information, contact ELL teacher Marty Behnke.

 

Room Nine Community School (RNCS):  RNCS is an alternative, parent-involved school of choice (K-8 Program) within the district.  It is housed at Meridian Park beginning the school year 2007-2008.  For more information, please call; 206-368-4180  or go to their website at roomninecommunityschool.org.
