Parkwood is located in the central corridor of the Shoreline School district. The building was built in 1961 and modernized in 1987. We house approximately 450 students in Kindergarten through 6th grade from the neighborhood as well as students from the greater Shoreline community. This is because we offer two district programs at Parkwood, ESL (English as a Second Language) and our Special Education "Blended Program". This program serves our 1st through 6th grade Shoreline students with disabilities and "blends" them with their general education peers as much as possible. We also have a Family Advocate for students and families. In 1997, three new classrooms, a computer lab and a new reference area in the library were added. Staff use the facility to run after school activities such as cooking, sign language and reading classes, basketball and homework center. |
