THE PYRAMIDS AND THE CITIES OF THE PHARAOHS - (VC C-1984 - Video Cassette 75 mins 1995) - Egyptologists and video artists take us back 5,000 years to view the awakening of Egypt - a civilization that created colossal structures with simple tools and massive manpower. What sort of people built these structures? Egypt is an amalgam of two things: the constancy of the Nile and the labor of its people. The reconstructions in this video recapture the splendor of Egypt: including two of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World: the Pyramids and the (Pharos) lighthouse at Alexandria. All lessons center on group-oriented activities and include all necessary background materials, objects, and handouts. This study collection is oriented toward grades 7 & 8, and is structured to meet the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements for Social Studies, specifically addressing the Grade 7 Benchmark for World History.
