Ridgecrest Covenant
Our vision is for Ridgecrest to be a school that focuses on learning
principles which prepare students for participation in our democratic
society. We believe:
- Learning should take place in a physically and psychologically safe
environment; students should learn in an atmosphere of acceptance
and support where cooperation and respect for others is expected.
- Learning is an active process; students should have access to the
finest instructional and educational experience possible.
- Learning should be individual and cooperative; students should work
at their own pace and performance level and work with other students
on solving problems.
- Learning should be connected to daily life; students should come
to understand the relevance and application of acquired knowledge
and skills.
- Learning should be personalized; students should become self-directed
by setting realistic and challenging goals, determining priorities,
making choices, and accepting responsibility.
- Learning should be diagnostic and reflective; students and parents
should have access to continuous feedback, allowing the development
and/or refinement of learning strategies.
The Site Council will view issues and concerns throught the covenant and
determine the impact on the entire school community.
