Jennifer has a BS in Psychology and minor in Alcohol Studies from
WSU. After graduating from college she worked as a Chemical Dependency
Counselor in a residential center for youth. She has worked in both inpatient
and outpatient drug and alcohol treatment facilities. Jennifer also holds
a MasterŐs degree in Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University. She has been a drug/alcohol counselor
in the Shoreline School District since 1998.
The Drug/Alcohol Counselor at the high school level provides support
to students, families and staff. She serves as a resource for information and
referrals and provides support for students to stop their own use, to deal with
the drug or alcohol abuse of friends or family members, or for a variety of
related issues. She provides support for parents who have concerns about their
student. She also facilitates student support groups throughout the year. Some
of the support groups she offers are nicotine cessation, concerned others, and
a recovery group. She also facilitates Operation Kick-it, a leadership group of
students who go into the elementary & middle schools in Shoreline and teach
those students not to use drugs.
