FRESHMAN
Freshmen wishing a jump start on community service experiences can make it a year of breadth. It’s an opportunity to experiment and try out many different types of community service. However the hours earned during the freshman year and the summer before the sophomore year do not apply toward Shorecrest’s 60-hour requirement. This is because Community Service is integrated into the English 10 curriculum. Once the 60-hour requirement has been fulfilled the student’s freshman hours will be added to the 60 hours.
The service exploration worksheet introduces the concept "Community service: it's more than hours".
