Recommendations for Class of 2013:

Organize a Shorecrest Blood Drive (two allowed per school year).

Lead a Literacy Awareness “Read Across America” endeavor.

Plan activities for Black History Month or other cultural study.

Conduct charitable, educational events to benefit Shorecrest, local elementary schools or the entire district.

Shorecrest History Project - potential book that would be of interest to former staff and alumni - oral history interviews and researched history - final project would be in essay/book form

History of Shorecrest sports teams - mostly in photographs with some explanation - would require going back through old annuals and newspapers to get pictures and names - final project would be in photo essay form. Examples would include the 1976 and 2009 Boys Soccer State Champions and the 1975 Boys Baseball State Champions.

History of Shorecrest ASB/leadership - mostly in photographs with some explanation - would require going back through old annuals and newspapers to get pictures and names - final project would be in photo essay form

History of Shorecrest drama - mostly in photographs with some explanation - would require going back through old annuals and newspapers to get pictures and names, also working with Linda Johnson, former longtime Drama teacher - final project would be in photo essay form

History of Shorecrest Loch - mostly in photographs with some explanation - would require going back through old annuals to get pictures and names - final project would be in photo essay form

History of Shorecrest Piper- mostly in photographs with some explanation - would require going back through old newspapers to get pictures and names - final project would be in photo essay form

History of Shorecrest music program- mostly in photographs with some explanation - would require going back through old annuals and newspapers to get pictures and names - final project would be in photo essay form

Organize alumni game (like alumni basketball old grad years vs. even grad years)- could be a number of students doing it, one for each sport

Buddy program of a varsity sport to little kids interested in that sport

Event that unites special needs students at Shorecrest with the rest of the school

Event that benefits student body/ Shorecrest culture

Johanna Phillips, Shorecrest Activity Coordinator, is interested in working with any students who are considering putting on an event for the student bodyy, in the realm of ASB/School Culture.

For 2011-2013: Senior Projects may NOT be partner projects (except for Mr. Shorecrest and the Candy Cane Dash). Creating new clubs and student groups are NOT suitable topics.

Create a Shorecrest softball design and paint the dugout. Paint will be provided. Jackie Berg
Jackie.berg@shorelineschools.org

Passionate about art? Create a student art gallery to utilize the spaces in the attendance, counseling and main offices. Create or find the artwork, make a plan for an aesthetic way to exhibit the pieces (shelves, frames), and create a system to regularly rotate student art.

Kristi Queen
Kristi.queen@shorelineschools.org

Serve as the Shorecrest Homework Club Coordinator of tutors.

Kristi.queen@shorelineschools.org

Create a Shorecrest recycling process and station for old cell phones, calculators, and batteries.

Our on-campus Greenhouse and garden provide opportunities for a Senior Project. Create a sustainable garden or grow seedlings for spring fundraisers.

PTSA Embrace Shorecrest

Create a large, re-usable run-through sign for sports teams to use. Perhaps use a nylon material like the flags, add the SC logo, and divide into 4 sections attached by Velcro. Players could run through it, it would break apart, but it could be put back together again for later use. Another way to “go green” and save on supply and paper waste!
