Golden Acorn AwardsVicki Klein has been very involved with Shorewood during her children's six years at the school. She has served in many different positions in the Shorewood PTSA including Signal Newsletter Editor for 2 years, Vice President of Public Affairs for 2 years and this year stepped in to serve as Co-President. She has also served on the EQC committee. She has been a very involved parent whether assisting with the drill team, chaperoning trips for the bands or cheering on one of her kids in their many activities. She truly has made a significant contribution to the Shorewood Community. Gala Lindvall has been a very active parent during her seven years at Shorewood. She has served as Production Assistant for the drama plays for 7 years overseeing costume organization, ticket sales, programs, publicity and more. She has also helped with both the bands and choirs. Her fierce defense of the performing art programs at Shorewood has benefited all music and drama participants. She is also co-chairing the Baccalaureate committee for the senior class of 2006. She is described as a "woman who makes things happen." Ritva Manchester is also a Shorewood parent for 7 years. She has served as Co-President of the PTSA, parent liaison for new SW parents and this year stepped in to organize the Levy push at Shorewood. On any committee she is involved with she insures that there is teacher and program support. She has been very involved for years on the Shoreline Education Foundation and serves as legislative Assistant to Carolyn Edmonds. Outstanding Educator RecipientVicki Gorman started teaching at Shorewood High School 30 years ago when it first started. Besides teaching PE, she coaches gymnastics and cheer and stepped in for 2 years to serve as Flag Advisor when they didn't have one. She works more hours than many of the SW employees because she is at the school Monday through Friday all summer long coaching the cheerleaders and letting in the flag and drill teams for summer practices. She brings positive energy, enthusiasm, and a real "can do" approach to her teaching and advising. It only seems appropriate that we honor her on this 30th anniversary of Shorewood High School. |
